We arrived today at this refuge and we were given the emergency room to sleep. It's an old wooden room with a very bad smell, very low light on the ceiling and no direct access to any toilet. You need to get out (at night, when it's cold and also when it is raining) and it's really that, an emergency room built below the main building for winter when the main building is s closed. We are being charged the same price as the rooms in the upper floors which enjoy heating, full light and toilets just outside. We have complained but they refuse to compensate. Not coming back again.
this hut is one of the best out there! amazing food, the staff is super sweet and friendly. we very much enjoyed staying here for alta via 2!
Large hut with modernized accommodations, comfortable bunk beds in the shared room, clean restrooms, large sinks, and drinking water (which isn't a given at this altitude).Very friendly hut staff, tasty food, and generously sized portions.Cozy dining room.
A well-located refuge at the intersection of various hiking trails. The menu is varied and appetizing. However, we didn't have time to finish our little compote or wipe our mouths with the napkin before our plate was already picked up...
Very friendly refuge, delicious food, simply super, would love to come back 🍻👍👌💪👌👌👌
The Genova refuge offers excellent service, both in terms of friendliness and professionalism. There's a shower available—it's become a habit at all refuges now!!!However, prices vary from 3/4 euros for two minutes! I'd put it at 10 euros!!!We're talking about refuges in the Dolomites.GSM network available. The refuge is fabulous, both in terms of its management and location. For those starting the Alta Via, be careful, because the trail isn't exactly easy and straightforward like some social media sites.Perfect signage makes it impossible to get lost. But it has a good length and, with a 400-meter climb over the Putia Pass, it's a must-do with backpacks weighing 10 kg or more.
You have to deserve the stars, I'd say given the welcome I received a few days ago, one star was even too many.
The view from up there is certainly beautiful. Unfortunately, it was foggy on our day.The Kaiserschmarrn was quickly finished, and after a short break, we hiked back to the Zanser Alm. The Geisler and Puez region has a lot to offer.
Wide selection of typical dishes, excellent and plentiful.Fast and courteous service.
Beautiful location, excellent service, special desserts, and fair prices. A must-see!
We ate at Rifugio Genova after a beautiful hike from Malga Zannes. Panoramic location and excellent food.
A beautiful refuge with a view of the Odle, kind and attentive service. The food is very good and even though it was quite full, they were quick. With a short walk (15 minutes) you reach the Col di Poma that dominates the valley
A real authentic hut, as you imagine. The hut warden is very nice and has attention for everyone.
Fast service and very friendly staff! We were able to try the apple strudel specialty. The best we've ever tasted.Access to restrooms and fresh water tomorrow. There's a passable road behind the refuge, so you can reach civilization if necessary.
Very friendly staff with everyone. Extensive menu with simple cuisine suitable for the mountains, more than honest prices. Very short waiting times at least before midday (afterwards it starts to get very crowded). Excellent beer. I did not stay there and did not enter the structure but I ate outside
A girl in our group felt ill during the night. Although the owners had a car and could easily take her down to the valley, they preferred not to "waste time", forcing her to walk back to Passo delle Erbe, without showing the slightest interest in her health.Dinner was good, but breakfast was rather poor. "Hot" showers cost €3, but the water was cold. Rooms and cleanliness in line with expectations, although a pillow that can be defined as such would have been more appreciated. Finally, at the time of payment we were not offered the possibility of splitting the bill (€450) in three via POS.
Climbed from the Erbe pass, a challenging climb but a beautiful panoramic area, I didn't eat in the refuge just a coffee and a good home-made barrique Grappa, it was also worth eating given the dishes, very kind and hospitable staff...
This was the best refugio i stayed at during Alta via 2. Such a beautiful location, worth it after a strenuous hike. Very good and friendly service. I ordered spaghetti bolognese and received it within 5 minutes of ordering, and it was a big portion too for only 10€.
Great hut in a great location. My wife and I stayed here on a Tuesday night in early October. We were able to take 5min hot showers for 3€ each. The property is very well maintained, and the food is quite good. Breakfast was basic but (or perhaps because) all-you-can-eat. We were welcomed, and staff was always very friendly. The only real limitations were: 1. The rooms were utterly unheated and outright cold (probably 10°C). The provided bedding was sufficient to keep you warm at night, but it was hard to regulate your sleeping temps, because sticking your foot or arm out from below the comforter would cause you frost bite within 15 minutes. 😉 So some low-grade heating of the rooms would've been appropriate. 2. There are no power outlets inside the rooms and you have to charge your phones in the hallway.
Hard beds. Small blankets. Creaky floor. Full of smelly pensioners. They expect everyone to eat breakfast at exactly the same time which creates a huge queue, a cramped dining space and makes for a not-so-peaceful morning experience. I would walk past this place if I had the choice.
An amazing stay on our 3 night trip! A bit busy, but everything runs very smoothly. Great view of the sunset!
OMG this is such a nice Refugio to stay. Very beautiful location with great views, very convenient stop for Dolomite VS2 hikers. The dinner is good. We had beef stew which is super tasty - definitely Italy mama’s recipe and cook. Room is very nice too like it was just remodeled. The host is very nice and always wanted to help. This is our first stop for the 11 day VS2 hiking and a really good start.
